Quarter betting treats a basketball game as four short games. Each quarter gets its own prices: who wins it, by how much, and how many points it produces. PBA and NBA fans in the Philippines like it because a quarter settles in minutes and rewards a read on how teams start or finish. The rules for a level quarter and for overtime are the part to learn first.

The odds formats and the tab that opens the sportsbook are explained on BingoPlus sports and its single product.

The three quarter betting markets

MarketYou bet onExample
Quarter winnerWhich team scores more in that quarterTeam A to win Q2
Quarter handicapA team with a points start or deficitTeam B +2.5 in Q3
Quarter totalCombined points over or under a lineQ1 over 52.5 points

Each one settles on the quarter’s own score, not the running game score.

1st quarter betting, step by step

1st quarter betting is the most common quarter market, and it settles first.

  1. Open the match inside the sportsbook before tip-off.
  2. Choose the 1st quarter section and a market.
  3. Place the bet before the quarter starts or while live betting is open.
  4. The bet settles on the first-quarter score alone.

Example with round numbers: Q1 total line 50.5, the quarter ends 27 to 25, 52 points in all. The over wins.

What happens when a quarter ends level

Market typeLevel quarter
Two-way quarter winnerCommonly a push: stakes returned
Three-way quarter winnerThe draw is a result; bets on either team lose
Quarter handicap, whole lineCan push if the margin lands on it
Quarter handicap, half lineCannot tie

Read the market name: a three-way market lists the draw as an option, and a two-way market does not.

Overtime and quarter markets

Overtime is played after the fourth quarter. Common practice in sportsbooks is that quarter markets cover regular time only, so overtime points count toward full-game markets but not the 4th quarter. The rules page inside the sportsbook decides; check it once and remember it.

Quarter totals work like any totals market; see how total lines settle. If your book shows quarter prices in Indo format, the Indo odds page converts them.

Problem

A 4th quarter bet ignored the overtime points.

Fix

Quarter markets commonly cover regular time only. Use a full-game market if you want overtime to count.

FAQ

Does overtime count in the 4th quarter market?

Common practice is no: quarter markets cover the quarter's regular time only. The sportsbook's rules page states its own treatment.

What happens if a quarter is tied?

It depends on the market. A three-way market pays the draw; a two-way market commonly returns stakes as a push. Read the market's rules.

Is 1st quarter betting popular?

It is one of the most offered quarter markets because it settles early, often within the first fifteen minutes of a game.
