Pusoy Dos combinations are the whole game. Every turn you either beat the last play with a higher combination of the same size or pass, and the first player to empty their hand wins. The four sizes of Pusoy Dos combinations

A play must match the size of the play before it. You cannot answer a pair with three cards or with a five-card hand in the standard rules.
Card and suit order
- Rank, low to high: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, K, A, 2. The two is the highest card.
- Suits, low to high (common Filipino order): clubs, spades, hearts, diamonds.
- Ties in rank are broken by the suit of the highest card.
Example: the 2 of diamonds is the strongest single in the deck; the 3 of clubs is the weakest, and in many house rules whoever holds it plays first.

The royal flush, 10-J-Q-K-A of one suit, is the highest straight flush. Within the same type, the higher hand is decided by its key card: the top card of a straight, the rank of the three cards in a full house, the rank of the four in four of a kind.
Pusoy card game basics for the first hand
The Pusoy card game in its Dos form is dealt to four players, 13 cards each.
- The player with the 3 of clubs usually opens, often with a play that includes it.
- Each next player beats the last play with the same size or passes.
- When everyone else passes, the last player to play starts a new round with any size.
- The first player to empty their hand wins.
